.PROCESSED PEOPLE AND PLACES
This series of paintings are exercises in understanding my memories and myself. Whether the painting is a geographic place that I’m reflecting on, or a portrait that possesses qualities of someone that I know, I always trying to push the subconscious. I’m pulling from imagery from imagination, the Internet, paintings, and antiquity.
I create these sketches in the hope to achieve ideas for full bodies of work that best represent me, and my relationship with the world. |

MEMOIRS SERIES
These are visual memoirs in which I document moments from my life that are personally significant to me. Similar to pages of a journal, these paintings record my reflections of certain events and relationships with people that I know. I habitually photograph everyday moments with hundreds of intangible digital images. While rapidly cycling through them, I look for elements of true sincerity. My final image is a composite of many digital images quilted together, and through paint gains tangibility. |

CONSTRUCTION
I have a fascination with physical work ethic. Growing up in a blue-collar family in Minnesota physical labor and construction reminds me of home. The act of painting is an activity that parallels construction and building, organizing raw materials and applying them to create something that is functional. This series of painting function is to equip the viewer with the role of developer, the people in the paintings function to facilitate the space and to be markers of progress and change. As the developer, the paintings serve you with a number of possibilities and ambiguities to what the paintings are about and what the workers are building or signifying. |
